Dad and Family at WDW

Finally a Disney Guide with Dad-a-tude

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Akershus Royal Banquet Hall is home to Epcot's Princess Storybook Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Yep, that's right guys, it's a Princess Storybook character breakfast. Suck it up, plaster a smile on your face, dress up your little Princess and have a ball, or just eat like a king. (Somehow Dad missed this one. Sorry Princess.)

The Royal Banquet hall is a great place for a meal fit for a princess. It's mod led after a famous fortress/castle by the same name in Oslo. Huge, hand carved, wood beams (hey, it's Disney, they might look hand carved but might be made of concrete, you can never tell) lead to soaring ceilings making this a regal setting for the regal (and, might I say) beautiful Princesses.

Important Point: You will need an admission to Epcot to get to the restaurant.

The Princesses

At breakfast, lunch, and dinner, each table will be visited by Princesses. They circulate around the room and visit each table signing autographs, hugging guests (sorry, guys, but they only hug the small guests) and posing for pictures.

The Princesses that are normally found are Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Mulan and Mary Poppins. They arrive at tables on a rotating schedule. That means you probably won't see all of them, but you will be visited by 2 or 3 during your meal.

Hours

The Princess Storybook Breakfast starts at 8:30 (yes, you can get into the park before it officially opens at 9:00) and ends at exactly 11:10. Lunch starts at promptly at 11:40 and ends at 2:50. Dinner is from 4:20 to 8:40. Yes, Disney is that precise with their times.

  • Bacon, Sausage
  • Scrambled Eggs
  • Potato Casserole
  • Seasonal Fruit
  • Cinnamon Rolls

Breakfast is served Family Style which means a pile of food is brought to your table and you get to fill your plates from the piles.

Princess Storybook Lunch Menu

Lunch at Akershus is a little more adventurous than breakfast. You start out by checking out the Fra Koltboardt (The Taste of Norway) which has sliced meats and cheeses, fresh salads, peel and eat shrimp and breads. You can also select from several entree selections that include some traditional Norwegian dishes.

Lunch Entrees

  • Pasta Akershus
  • Salmon Burger
  • Grilled Vegetable Stuffed Pasta
  • Sauteed Chicken Breast
  • Traditional Kjottkaker
  • Grilled Venison Sausage

Children's Menu

The children's menu for lunch features the Koltboardt and a choice of the following

  • Grilled Chicken Breast
  • Cheese Ravioli
  • Pizza
  • Hot Dog

Desserts

Lunch is followed up with a Royal Chef's Dessert Plate that includes a Rice Cream topped with a Strawberry Sauce, a Sweet and Savory Chocolate Mousse and a Apple Tart. It's a great way to stuff yourself in preparation for your afternoon nap.
