April Disney World crowds

April Disney World crowds are out of control until spring break winds down. Spring Training ends. Flowers and Rock-and-Roll take center stage (literally). It's a beautiful time for Disney World vacations.

April gives new meaning to stop and smell the roses ... The flowers are beautiful, the weather is lovely, it's just about the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World. Unless ...

April Crowds

The month will start off to heavy to very heavy crowds in all the parks as the last of the Spring Break crowds clear out and the Easter crowds hit the parks. The middle of the month will have weekend locals that will swell the crowds to a fairly heavy level, but the weekdays will be moderately busy.

How to Deal with Disney World Crowds

Crowds happen at Disney World. So what are you going to do when you encounter them. Dad has several tips, and recommendations about the best way to deal with the crowds. See what Dad has to say.

Here's the guide to the colors used in the April Disney World crowds calendar.

  • Moderate - the blue color - short wait in all lines, 30 minutes on the big rides
  • Heavy - the yellow color - 30 minute wait on all rides, 1-2 hours on the big rides, must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to shows
  • Could go either way - the brown color - Could be heavy, could be wall-to-wall, or somewhere in between. (or it could just mean Dad has no clue)
  • Wall-to-Wall - that leaves red - 1 hour + waits on rides not unusual. 2-3 hours for the big rides. Even 30 + minute waits for "fast" food.

The Complete Crowd Picture

Below is an overall view of what the crowds at Disney World will be like during the month of April. This calendar is based on Dad's knowledge and whatever information he can find about crowd patterns during the month. For a complete, park by park day by day, look at what the crowds are in each park, check out Touringplans.com.

The guys and gals at Touringplans.com literally wrote the book on Disney World crowds (The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World). They have years of historical crowd levels so you can see what the crowds have been like through the years. They have projected crowd levels in each park for every day of the year. Each day there is a recommendation for the best parks to visit and those to avoid. They even have an smart phone app that shows how long the lines are at every ride in real time.

I use Touringplans.com for my trips and highly recommend it. Trust me.

Dad's Bottom Line

April Disney World crowds can get downright ugly, but if you plan for them, if you're ready for them, all will be fine. April is still a great time to visit Walt Disney World.
