To get from the Caribbean Beach at Disney World to just about anywhere else, you either a.) have a car at Disney World and drive yourself, or b.) take one of Uncle Walt's Luxury Motor Coaches. Not a whole lot of choice. Although it has gotten better now that Disney will kidnap you at the airport and keep you in their evil clutches for your whole perfect Disney World Vacation.

(I probably ought to rewrite that last sentence to say, Disney will happily pick you and your family up at the airport and safely transport you anywhere you need to go around Disney World during your magical Disney World vacation. Then when your perfect week is done, they will wisk you back to the airport where you will shed one tear as you board your magical coach back home.) Like that better?

Disney's Luxury Motor Coach

Disney runs complimentary Luxury Motor Coaches (buses) to the four theme parks, the two water parks, and Downtown Disney from the Caribbean Beach at Disney World. Getting to other Disney World resorts can be difficult and the lines to wait for transportation can be daunting at rush times.

For example, there is no easy way to get to Whispering Canyon Cafe in the Wilderness Lodge. To get there you could take a bus to one of the theme parks, or as Disney suggests to Downtown Disney, where you would then change and grab a bus, after you stand in line again, to the Wilderness Lodge. Dad would suggest, to get to the Wilderness Lodge, grab a Magic Kingdom bus, when you arrive at the Magic Kingdom, catch the launch to the Wilderness Lodge. It's a beautiful boat ride.

There are bus stops at every village and at Old Port Royale. The normal progression is Barbados, Martinique, Old Port Royale, Trinadad North and South, Jamica and Aruba. So if you are staying in Aruba, like Dad was, you will be the last on and off the bus which could mean standing up all the time and long bus rides.

That's why Dad recommends a car at Disney World for your DIsney World vacation.

Disney will now take you from the airport to the Resort and back. And it doesn't cost you anything. Yes, that's right it's absolutely free. Just make reservations for DIsney's Magical Express and let Disney do the driving.

Driving to the Caribbean Beach Resort

Dad's a big fan of driving around Walt Disney World. Disney Transportation does a marvelous job of moving millions of people from place to place, but sometimes there are millions of people to move around which causes lots of waiting and stress.

To get to the hotel, if you get off I-4 on -

• World Drive - Exit on Buena Vista Drive (the Disney Hollywood Studios exit) and take a right. Pass Hollywood Studios continue until you see the entrance on the right.
• Epcot Center Drive - Exit on Buena Vista Drive. Take a left on Buena Vista. The resort will be on the left.

Dad's Bottom Line

While Dad always recommends a car at Disney World, the bus service is amazing. Oh, and don't forget to ride the monorail (Dad's favorite Walt Disney World ride).
