Caribbean Beach Resort for a family of 5

Any chance I can get my family of 5 into a room at the Caribbean Beach Resort? Willing to bring a kiddie blow up mattress for my youngest. Really like the hotel and the price is right. Would Disney allow me to book and still get 5 ticket/ 7 night package with dining in November 2011?

Dad's that's against the rules Answer

Meg,

I can answer this one pretty easy, but you're not going to like my answer. No, at the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort you can not have a family of 5. It's not allowed.

Dad's Caribbean Beach Resort page

That sounds harsh, but let me explain. There is a state law that requires the number of guests in a room not to exceed the bed capacity of the room. Since the Caribbean Beach Resort only has 2 beds it's capacity is officially 4.

Disney does not deviate from this policy. Your reservation can only have 4 names on it if you are staying in a room that only sleeps 4.

I know what you are thinking. Hey Dad, could I just leave one of my kids off the list and sneak them in? You might get away with it, but I wouldn't advise it. (Hey, what can I say, I've never even cheated with a refillable mug.)

My suggestion would be to get 2 rooms over at the Pop Century. It's almost the same price. You would then have 520 square feet of space, 4 beds, 2 TVs and 2 bathrooms (yes, 2 bathrooms). The resort is similar in coloring. The food court is better (yes, I've stayed at both). And the transportation system is much better.

Dad's Bottom Line

Meg, the bottom line is, it's against the law and Disney is a very law abiding company. (Mainly because they write most of the laws in Florida.) Go to the Pop Century, the only thing you'll really miss is the SeaRaycers and you can rent them just about anywhere at anytime.

Got an infant?
by: Anonymous

Just wondered, Meg, does one of your children happen to be under 2? We went last year and staying in a regular 4-person room at POP last November and there were five of us (3 adults, a four year old, and a 1 year old) and because one year olds are still considered "infants" they let us stay in that room LEGALLY, and he slept in one of their pack n plays.

Room for 5?
by: Clark

I have heard that the Port Orleans Riverside has room for 5 guests. Some of their rooms have 2 double beds AND a trundle bed. Hope this helps. If not, the Pop is a GREAT place to stay, have stayed there twice.

Gotcha
by: Meg

Thanks for keeping me out of Disney jail! That certainly wouldn't be a good lesson to teach the kiddos ;) For the record . . .I wasn't planning on "sneaking" the little guy in. Just wanted to book the 4 person room with a 5 person ticket and dining package, but I get what your saying.

Sounds like the Pop Century would be perfect for us.Loving the space and the 2 bathrooms.

Thanks Dad! You really are a Dad, advice with a moral compass! Love it!
