Christmas or October

Christmas or October

by Laura

Dad, we just found your site this weekend and have loved pouring through all the info. We're planning our second trip to Disney this fall/winter now that we've added two to our family. We have a 7 yr. old and 18 mo. twins (so 8 and 2 when we go). We're planning to stay off-site this time simply to have more than one room for sleeping with the little ones. We will most likely stay at the Embassy Suites for price and we have never previously had any issues with quality of E.S.

We were planning to go the week before Christmas, but after looking around, it seems like crowds may be too crazy that week to try to enjoy it with 3 little ones and a double stroller. So, now we're looking at mid-October. Do you think the smaller crowds in October would make it worth not going at Christmas time?

Dad's it's the most wonderful time Answer

Christmas at Disney World is the most wonderful time of the year and that's a fact.

In your situation, I'd forgo the the Christmas crush and go in the nice slow Halloween season. Christmas may be the best, but October is full of some really nice stuff, especially Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. Just be sure to bring your own big bag.

Now about the Embassy Suites ...

First let me say that I'm a real big fan of Embassy Suites. I am top level with Hilton Honors and stay at Embassy Suites as often as I can. (Probably over 10 times in the last year. Yes, I did travel a lot.)

I am not a big fan of the Lake Buena Vista Embassy Suites. (I love the new one by the airport) I was very disappointed with the size of the room I was given and I had problems with the shuttle to Disney World. For it's location I didn't think the hotel was very kid friendly.

I was there on business, and not for pleasure, but looking I looked at it from a family standpoint and wasn't impressed.

But that's just one mans opinion. I think you would do a lot better in 2 rooms at the Pop Century. The only thing you'd miss is the breakfast. (Yes, that's a real big thing.)

Dad's Bottom Line

Christmas or October? October. Embassy Suites ????? Just my $0.02.

Thanks for the recommendations Dad! Looks like we're definitely aiming for October now. Our biggest deal breaker, is we're also going over to Legoland for our Lego obsessed son, and they haven't announced a definite open date yet. But the crowds in October sound much more doable for our family!
