Disney Dining Plan and Character Meals

Disney Dining Plan and Character Meals

I am going to be booking some dining reservations and have some questions I hope you can answer about the Disney Dining Plan and Character Meals. I am going to be doing the Dinning plan and want to take total advantage of it! I am booking 2 Character dinners, Crystal Palace and Princess Storytime at Epcot, also lunch at Tusker House (to get the Finding NEMO show passes), supper at Liberty Tree tavern, and Brown Derby for the Fantasmic Package.

But I have some questions...... I know when I book the kids for the Pirate League I will have to pay with credit card, do I have to pay for the dinners too? Or do I give them my reservation info and they will let me reserve under the dining plan? Also in the Fantasmic package available through the dining plan? Would love to not have to wait inline for the show. Thanks!!!

Dad's it's kinda complicated Answer

Jenn,

Thanks again for another great question. First, this is one of the reasons I'm not a big fan of the Disney Dining Plan. You have to choose the most expensive meals to justify the price of the plan. Just needed to make that clear.

Now, on to your questions. You will be asked for a credit card even if you are using the Disney Dining Plan any of the character meals. Disney will only charge your card if you don't show up. So, even if you are using the dining plan (and yes let them know your on the plan) you'll have to give them a card.

Dad's Disney Dining Plan page

The Fantasmic Dinner package is one of the credit card required meals that is on the Disney Dining Plan. So yes, you can get the Fantasmic Dinner package. (I agree getting into the reserved seating is very important.) The Fantasmic packages go quickly so make your reservations 180 days prior to your arrival.

Dad's Bottom Line

Using the Dining Plan for character meals is a very good use of the plan. Usually character dining is more expensive than other restaurants.
