Disney Hotels and any other advice

Hi..love your site! My family is going to DW November 12-18. We have three kids ages 4, 8 and 10 and two adults. This will be our third trip to DW, and we would like your opinion on Disney hotels and any other advice you have for our family.

We are leaning toward the Beach Club, but are also considering the Polynesian. Also, would you recommend a park hopper? Thanks so much for your advice and for this awesome site!

Dad's here he goes again Answer

Thanks for the kind words and the question about Disney hotels and advice.

Let's see the Beach Club or the Polynesian ... If you know Dad at all, you know what's coming ...

For your family, Dad prefers the Polynesian Resort (imagine that). But, it's not just that Dad loves the Polynesian, there are reasons that it fits your family. Here they are -
  • Convenience to the Magic Kingdom - with younger children, it's best to be closer to the Magic Kingdom. If you had teenagers I'd suggest the Beach Club because it's closer to Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios.
  • Room size - The Polynesian has bigger rooms. Some even have 2 sinks.
  • Better pool for small children - the Nanea pool is better for younger children. The Beach Club pool is more geared toward teens

Now about the Park Hopper pass thing ... This one is really tough. It really depends on your plan. (And you should really have a plan.) If you can plan your days to stay in the same park all day, then no, don't add the park hopper. If your plan has you jumping from park to park, then you'll need the park hoppers.

(That's the generic answer, here's a specific answer for you.) Since you are going during a slow period, and you have younger children that aren't going to get to go to the parks on their own, you don't need park hoppers.

Dad's Bottom Line

Go to the Polynesian, save money from the park hoppers (maybe go to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party) and have a great time during Dad's favorite time of the year.

Stay at the Polynesian
by: Mrs. Mom

Don't forget that the rooms in the Polynesian have 2 queen beds and the little sofa/bed for sleeping 5. Honey, please add the link to the story about the Man-Child and the little sofa/bed.

Dad chimes in ...

Yes, Mrs. Mom, the Polynesian has day beds in all of the rooms. The Beach Club does too. It's the only room that can accommodate 5 guests at the beach club so it's automatic they'll get one.

But, the rooms at the Polynesian are larger.
