Disney World December 2011

Disney World December 2011

by Todd

Carl – here's a Disney World Christmas 2011 question for you. With Christmas Day falling on a Sunday in 2011; what the crowds will be like the week before (17th -24th)? We are thinking about splitting the two weeks and going December 14th thru 20th.

What do you think the crowds will be like these dates and do you know of any special events going on during this time which would increase crowds? As always – love the site and Happy Holidays!!!

Dad's it's the most wonderful time Answer

Dad will release his December Disney World crowds page sometime in January, but I can give you a preview.

Disney World in December 2011, will be pretty much like every other year. Crowds will be sleepy slow until around the the 20th, (a little later than normal) then crowds build every day through Sunday. If you are going the 14th through the 20th, you'll be very happy.

The only "special" event you might want to think about Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It's a great time in the Magic Kingdom. (Yes, it costs extra.)

Christmas at Disney World is the most wonderful time of the year, and the off times, before the throngs arrive are really special. You'll love it.

What are you must see recommendations during the Christmas season?

Dad's Answer

Here is my list for November. Dad's must see things at Disney World in November. For December the only thing I would add would be the Candlelight Processional in Epcot (it doesn't start until the day after Thanksgiving.

Hope this helps,

Do you know if they will have a Christmas day parade? Should we arrive early that day? I never thought Christmas would be one of their busiest days of the year :(

Dad Answers

The Christmas Day Parade you see on TV is taped the first weekend of December. There will be a (and probably two) parades on Christmas Day, but finding a place to watch them will be very difficult. Yes, Christmas Day is by far the busiest day at the Magic Kingdom.

There will be over 120,000 people in the park with another 20,000 or so waiting to get in. It's an absolute zoo. The shortest line you'll see all day (for the bathroom) will be 30 minutes or more long. All the rides will be over an hour and the top rides will be over 4 hours.

If you want to see the parade, you'll probably have to stake out your place at least 90 minutes in advance and that might not be long enough.

I love the Magic Kingdom and I love Christmas at Disney World. I've been to the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Day and I'll never go back.

Dad Answers

Yes, Disney World will be crazy with people during that week. It always is. It's the busiest week of the year by far.
