Extra Magic Hours at the Parks
We've heard it's a good idea to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours at the parks, especially with little ones. The first full day of our Disney vacation will be on a day that Hollywood Studios had their Extra Magic Hours.
Do you think it would be a bad idea to skip over Magic Kingdom for our first day to take advantage of the extra time at Hollywood Studios? At time of travel we will have a 4.5 year old and a 2 year old. Thanks, Dad!
Dad's only if ... Answer
Thanks for the great question about Extra Magic Hours at the parks. Dad's answer kinda depends on what kind of tickets you have. Yes, that's right, it depends on the type tickets you have.
If you have the Park Hopper option ...
If your tickets have the Park Hopper option, congratulations, the decision is easy. Go to Disney Hollywood Studios in the morning, take a break in the afternoon, and go to the Magic Kingdom in the evening.
(For those of you screaming that Vickie might be staying off site and taking a break in the afternoon isn't practical for those staying off site, take a chill pill. Extra Magic Hours is only available to guests staying in Disney Resorts. Yeah, Dad's knows stuff.)
If you don't have the Park Hopper option ...
Don't panic. All is not lost. Don't run out and add the Park Hopper option. (At $50.00 a pop, it's pretty expensive.)
This will not probably not be the last time you and your children visit Disney World. But it is probably the first. One part of me, the part that loves "You've Got Mail", says, the first memory of Disney World should be of the Magic Kingdom. That part screams ... "GO TO THE MAGIC KINGDOM FIRST."
But then, there's the practical side of Dad. That tiny voice in my head that whispers "get real Dad, they're only 4 and 2 and a half, just how much do you think they'll actually remember?"
Then there's that other voice, (yes, it's fun living in my head at times) that rational voice that listens to both sides and comes up with alternatives. Dad's rational voice rationally says - "remember, the first time you took your children to Walt Disney World you went to Epcot first."
Yeah, Mr. Practical doesn't always come up with answers.
h1>Dad's Bottom Line
If you have Park Hopper Passes go to Disney Hollywood Studios, if you don't, by all means, go to the Magic Kingdom.
