February Disney World crowds

February Disney World crowds are almost some of the smallest of the year and some really big crowds. It's a great time of the year for a Disney World vacation.

February is also an interesting time at Disney World. Interesting? Yes, interesting. February at Walt Disney World is filled with love and baseball. But not crowds (at least for most of the month.

What could be better than baseball, love and Walt Disney World?

February Events

February crowds at Disney World are some of the smallest all year. Oops, I said that before. but it's true. Small crowds means good things when it comes to Disney World. Small crowds means Disney puts on some special things to make small crowds bigger. In February the specials are ...

  • Atlanta Braves Spring Training - Every spring, Walt Disney World's Wide World of Sports Complex and Champions Stadium is home to Major League Baseball's Atlanta Braves. The Braves spring training home games are played at Disney World. What could be better. Baseball, hot dogs, apple pie and Disney World. (Disney's Spring Training site)
  • Valentine's Day Celebrations- Disney goes all out for Valentine's Day. The parks are all painted red for the day. Cupid runs around shooting his arrows at every unattached... (yes, I'm making stuff up again, sorry) Honestly, Valentine's Day doesn't draw many folks. Disney does put on some special dinners for it's guests, and some of the Downtown Disney attractions add some special events, but mostly Valentine's Day is just another day at Disney World.

You might think that of these special events would bring in big February Disney World crowds, but that's not the case.

Presidents Day

Presidents Day used to be one of the holidays that didn't effect Disney World crowds. That changed a couple of years ago. Now Presidents Day crowds are as big as the spring break crowds of March.

Disney World Crowds

Whether crowds are small or large, you will want to know how to avoid crowds at the parks. You never know when or where crowds will appear.

This calendar is based on historical facts, as I know them today. The Walt Disney World Resort is an ever-changing environment and you might find things significantly different from below.

Here's the guide to the colors used in the Disney World crowds calendar.

  • Light - the green color - no waiting in most lines
  • Moderate - the blue color - short wait in all lines, 30 minutes on the big rides
  • Heavy - the yellow color - 30 minute wait on all rides, 1-2 hours on the big rides, must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to shows
  • Wall-to-Wall - that leaves red - 1 hour + waits on rides not unusual. 2-3 hours for the big rides. Even 30 + minute waits for "fast" food.

The Complete Crowd picture

Yes, Dad is full of crowd information, but there is a site out there that has a more complete picture of Disney World crowds than even Dad. (Gasp. Say it's not so.) It's OK, their friends. Touringplans.com is full of great, helpful information about February Disney World crowds and crowds all year long. They even have data from previous years about crowd levels in each park.

You can get a whole year of predictions of the crowds in each park for every day. They even suggest which park would be the best and which will be the worst when it comes to daily crowds. They have a smartphone app called "Lines" that keep track of how long the lines are at the rides in real time.

Dad's Bottom Line

February is one of the best times of the year to visit Walt Disney World. Crowds are significantly lighter for most of the month than in the rest of the spring or summer, and in February, the weather at Walt Disney World can be spectacular.
