Is Disneyland Expanding?

Is Disneyland Expanding?

It has been revealed that Disney purchased more land in Anaheim this spring, which has erupted into expansion rumors. According to the LA Times, three areas of land over 14 acres in size have been acquired directly across from Disney California Adventure. While this isn’t enough land yet for a large expansion (Disneyland is 160 acres and Disney California Adventure is 67 acres), it is a start.

Todd Regan of MiceChat.com believes the purchase indicates “Disney can move some behind-the scenes operations at Disneyland…freeing up space for an expansion within the boundaries of the park’s property.” This would probably be a more reasonable use for the size of the area acquired.

And what kind of expansion do you think would go in the freed up area in Disneyland? Yes, you’ve guessed it- Star Wars. It’s no secret that since the acquisition of Lucasfilm, Star Wars has been on everyone’s mind, and Imagineers are no exception. While there isn’t any confirmation to these rumors, it just makes sense.

A likely scenario could be that Disney rolls out a Star Wars themed attraction or area at Disneyland and Disney’s Hollywood Studios around the same time. Speculation doesn’t have to drag out for long, however. Disney’s D23 Expo is just around the corner where (hopefully) light will be shed on expansion rumors surrounding Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

Dad's Disneyland Rumor

Don't like the Star Wars idea. Dad's going to start a rumor of his own. I think Disney will add a Value Level Resort to the new space. That makes more sense than adding to a park across the street.

But what do I know?

PS. Did you know that Dad is going to Disneyland and D23 next week? That's going to be fun.
