Good decision. We always rent, or drive, a car in Orlando. It gives us a sense of freedom, and frees us from the uncertanity of Disney transportation. Yes, I know, Disney will greedily snatch you up at the airport in one of thier "Luxury Coaches" and gently transport you on a cloud like ride to your magical castle vacation experience. (Pardon me while I ...) Yes, the will happily transport you everywhere you want to go for the length of your stay just as long as you don't want to leave the property (think Hotel California here).

You can get your car at the airport terminal.

These car companies have cars right at the terminal -

The rental car counters are located on Level 1. This is the level below the Baggage Claim area. Once you have your key, you walk across the street to the parking garage and pick up your car.

If you let Disney drive you, proceed down into the deepest depths of the airport. Even below the baggage level to where you'll find the Disney ghouls waiting to take your blood. (Just kidding.)

Enter MCO or Orlando in the Traveling to box and your dates and off you go. Make sure that you compare three or more different companies. You might find a better deal.

If you have a membership with one of the car companies check out their website. Sometimes they have some great deals on rentals.

Oh, yeah. You can also book a car and pick it up right at Disney World. Alamo/National has locations at the Car Care Center, at the Dolphin Hotel, and near Downtown Disney.

Dad's Bottom Line

Orlando is the number one market for car rentals in the world. There are usually an abundance of great deals on rental cars. Don't do Disney without one.
