Seven Seas Lagoon

Seven Seas Lagoon is the man-made body of water between the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom. It is connected to Disney World Bay Lake. It's the lake that you cross on the ferry.

The Grand Floridian, the Polynesian Resort and the Contemporary Resort all have big beaches on the Seven Seas Lagoon and they have marinas where you can rent boats for fun on the lagoon.

The lagoon was originally constructed for swimming and surfing. Surfing was discontinued after beach erosion was found at the Polynesian and swimming stopped after a dangerous bacteria was discovered. Boating is still allowed.

In 1973 fish were introduced into the lagoon and fishing started in the 1990's.

While on your vacation you can rent a sailboat, ski boat, cute little motor boat, kayak, pontoon boat, you can water ski, water board, knee board, ski tube, parasail, or even Sea Doo on Bay Lake. You can even watch the fireworks from Bay Lake on an intimate dinner cruise.

Fishing on Seven Seas Lagoon

There are several fishing experiences available at the resort marinas on Seven Seas Lagoon. Some or all of the excursions listed below are available at your resort.

Available Excursions may include guided Bass Fishing Excursions, Bass Nitro Fishing Excursions and Junior Fishing Excursions and even Cane Pole Fishing are available for purchase. Prices start at $4.00 for 30 minutes.

The excursions last 2 hours and include:

• An experienced guide
• Rod and reel (you can supply your own)
• Tackle
• Live and artificial bait
• Beverages
• One year membership to BASS.

Boating on Seven Seas Lagoon

Little boats, big boats, fast boats, slow boats, motor boats, muscle powered boats are all available at marinas of the hotels on the lagoon.

There are marinas at The Polynesian Resort, The Grand Floridian Resort and the Contemporary Resort. At each of these marinas an assortment of water craft are available for rental. Not all types may be available at each marina.

Some of the boats available are:

• Sailboats
• Pontoon boats
• Kayaks
• Canoes

At the Contemporary Resort Marina, World Waterskiing Champion Sammy Duvall has opened the Sammy Duvall's Water Sports Centre has some more adventurous water sports available.

• Knee board
• Tube
• Parasailing
• Rent Sea Doo Personal Watercraft

Magic Kingdom Ferry

To cross the Seven Seas Lagoon and get to the Magic Kingdom, you can ride the ferry. Disney has three ferry's that run between the Transportation and Ticket Center and the Magic Kingdom. They are the Richard F. Irvine, the Admiral Joe Fowler, and the General Joe Potter.

The three boats are identical. They each have an upper and lower deck with front and rear stairs. Each has a capacity of 600 and wheelchair access is available on the lower deck.

During periods of heavy traffic three boats will make the 10 minute trip. The rest of the time two boats will be in operation.

Special Cruises

One of the most luxurious extras on a Disney World vacation, is the Fireworks Cruise. You can book one of Disney's private yacht's for an intimate night of dinner, dancing and fireworks on the "high" seas. There are different size boats to choose from:

• Pontoon boat (for up to 8)
• Pontoon boat (for up to 10)
• Grand Yacht 1 (for up to 17 or 18)
