Storybook Circus

Storybook Circus is the first part of the Fantasyland upgrade which will open sometime early this year or at least part of it.

The Circus is a takeoff on the Dumbo movie and will feature what might be the most loved ride that Uncle Walt ever created. Oh, yeah it's also one of the longest lines for the shortest rides anywhere. The new ride should have some help in the line department.

Fantasyland Expansion

The most whimsical land in the Magic Kingdom will be expanding it’s footprint by half. The “new” Fantasyland will feature three distinct sections: the existing royal tournament area immediately behind Cinderella Castle, the new enchanted forest, and the bright, colorful Storybook Circus, which will replace Mickey’s Toon Town Fair.

The Attraction

This area will be themed after the classic Disney film, Dumbo. Dumbo the Flying Elephant has long been one of the most popular attractions in Fantasyland, and has become iconic of the Magic Kingdom to families around the world. This new sub-land will pay homage to the little elephant and the circus brought to town by Casey Jr. with bright tents and circus animals galore.

Scheduled to open in two stages. In early 2012, we should see: The Fantasyland Train Station (formerly Mickey’s Toontown Fair Train Station ) The Great Goofini (previously The Barnstormer) Casey Jr. Roadhouse (a water play area where kids can get splashed by circus animals) Dueling Dumbos (an expanded, 2-carousel version of the current Dumbo the Flying Elephant attraction which will feature an interactive queue to help pass the time in line).

In early 2013, the other half should open, including Pete’s Silly Slideshow (a character meet and greet, which will likely feature the Fab Five in their circus outfits, like Ringmaster Mickey and Strongman Goofy).

Dad's Bottom Line

The new layout of Fantasyland has got Dad pretty excited. Storybook Circus sounds like it will be a great addition to the Magic Kingdom – especially the Dueling Dumbos!
