Sword in the Stone in Fantasyland
by Dad
Our Hero
The Man-Child was in full Man-Child mode. He was a he man. Super hero. Almost 5 years old, with a head full of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles this little boy was going to be a hero.
This was a long time ago, but Disney used to have a show where kids got to pull the Sword out of the Stone. They have an anvil set up right behind Cinderella's Golden Carousel now called Prince Charming's Regal Carousel and in that anvil is a sword.
Every hour or so, Merlin would come out, pick one lucky kid and have them pull the sword out of the stone. The anvil and sword were there all the time but only the selected kid could pull the sword out of the stone.
The Man-Child didn't get selected to pull out the sword. He cried. (Yes, you did son.) The kid that got selected pulled out the sword, of course, (after his he man Daddy couldn't do it) and the crowd roared.
After Merlin left, the Man-Child was determined to pull that sword out of the stone. We tried to tell him that it was locked in, but he wouldn't hear it. So he pulled and he pulled. We told him it was time to move on, but he was bound and determined to pull that sword out of that stone.
Finally, he gave up. We went on our merry way. Our hero decided there were other battlefields that could be conquered. Bring on those pirates.
