The Day my Husband Decided to Marry Me

Pluto!!!

OK maybe it wasn't' that actual day but it was definitely because of our first trip to Disney with his daughter who was about 3 at the time (about 13 years ago). It was the middle of July and 110 F out. But it was our first trip to Disney World together. Because of the heat, we had planned to spend our mornings at Disney, go back to our hotel for a nap and to stay cool in the afternoons, then return for dinnertime and the evenings when it was cooler and not so busy.

Well we got to the Magic Kingdom and it was magical! (of course!) We did the It's a Small World ride, and met some characters, got their autographs and Montana (my stepdaughter) was thrilled. We even got to see Ariel - her favorite princess!

We had some lunch and then worked our way to the front gate to get the monorail back to the parking lot. It was really hot and we were tired, but then I saw the people lining up for the 3 pm parade along Main Street. I said to my husband, we really should stay to see the parade. It is supposed to be a "not miss". He wasn't very happy about that but he conceded and we found a spot and waited, and waited for what seemed like forever in the heat!

While we were sitting there a lady next to us said "Your daughter doesn't have a Little mermaid sticker - we didn't know why we would need one but she gave an extra one to Montana. This perked her up a bit. But we were still hot and tired and about to leave when we could hear the music....Then the characters come down the street. Before we knew it we were in Disney heaven with all the characters dancing around us.

Then came Ariel and the sea characters...This is when the called all kids with the stickers (the ones my step daughter had) to come and dance with them. WOW! was that ever incredible! We were so hot and tired and didn't care - Warren and I were so moved at how much fun Montana was having that we cried!

Warren said that because of my persistence with staying for the parade we would always have that memory AND he knew that he wanted to marry me!

12 years later I think it is time to go back to the Magic Kingdom!
