Can I do the activities at the pool and not go in?

"Hi, My family and I are looking to visit some other resorts on our next Disney Vacation. I know that we are not supposed to pool hop at DW resorts. I was wondering if my kids would be able to participate in poolside activities as long as they don't go in the pools?"

OK, I guess so

Bre,

There has been a huge change at the pools at the Disney World Resorts. It used to be everyone could walk right in. Now all of them have fences that require MagicBands or room keys from that resort to get in. No more pool hopping even at the Value Resorts.

Will you be able to take part in the activities from outside? Maybe.

Outside of the pools you can do pretty much anything you'd like, but I'm not sure participating in the activities makes a lot of sense. Most of the pool activities require being present at the pool.

For example, here is the schedule for the Pop Century Pool for this month (August 2018).

When you look at the schedule, it's not real obvious, but most of the activities pretty much require you to be inside the pool area. There are a few, Disney Trivia, Fact or Fiction, Name That, etc. that you might be able to play outside of the pool area, but most of the activities require you to be inside.

Also know that the lifeguard that leads the activities is going to be pretty much in the center of the pool area. It's not going to be easy to participate from outside except for the guessing games.

Dad's Bottom Line

Bre, while it's theoretically possible, I don't think it will be much fun.
