My wife, Joyce, and I will be celebrating Christmas, 2011 at Walt Disney World. I’d like to have our room at Old Key West decorated with a little festive touch as a surprise to her. Any other tips on little known special events, performances, exhibits and celebrations would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

Christmas is really coming up, are you guys excited yet? As soon as I read your question I knew just the company to recommend for you. Disney has their own company where you can order ahead of time and Disney will spruce up your room as little or as much as you want, so it can be all pretty before either of you even get there!
It’s called Disney Floral and Gifts, and you can go to their website at www.disneyflorist.com to look at all of the great things they have in
store for you. Currently, they’re specializing in Christmas goodies like a stocking filled with goodies or a personalized Christmas tree,
but they have amazing things all year round. If you’re celebrating something truly special, why not surprise her with a bouquet of flowers while you’re at it? Caution, though, they are taking a day off for Christmas itself.
(Dad here, I just have to butt in and say I did this for my friend last week and was amazed with what the florists delivered. It was really special.)
So that covers the decorations. Outside of the hotels, you’re probably aware of the special events taking place the week of Christmas (and
the whole month of December, to be honest) like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom, the Candlelight Processional at
Epcot, and the Osborne Festival of Lights at Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom keeps it nice and simple by having Mickey’s Jingle Jungle Parade, but AK has the least hours of availability, so watch out for that.
If you have time, it’s nice to take a look at the other hotels and see how they all decorate for Christmas. They’re all unique and beautiful in their own way, just like the hotels themselves. The Fort Wilderness Resort also boasts a sleigh ride for an additional price, too, if you’re feeling a little extra outdoorsy.
Dad has a lot of it covered on his Christmas at Disney World page. I hope this was enough information for you and your wife! Thanks so much for asking and have a very merry Christmas!
