Dad is Retiring!

We’ll be closing this site on December 31, 2020.

As of June 2, 2020, we’ll no longer be updating content. But don’t worry - Dad’s friends can still help with all your Disney dreaming, planning, and booking needs!

Thank you for your support of Dad’s Guide to WDW for the past 11 years!

It seems we don’t hear from you on your blog as frequently as we used to. I hope all is well with you and yours.

Dad’s it’s a big secret Answer

I’m glad you noticed. You are correct. Dad has been “neglecting” some things around here for the past few weeks and there’s a very good reason why.

But, in the immortal words of some comedy movie if I told you why, I’d have to kill you and I really don’t like killing people. Just kidding.

There are several reasons for the pause in the blog. First, I have to admit, I’m a bit burned out on writing every day so I’m taking a short break from the blog. It’s that time of year when there’s not a lot of news and when I go to write an interesting story it’s just boring. I need a break.

Second, I am working on a big new project. It’s about 3 weeks from being finished, but I think it’s close enough to let you take a peak. I think it’s going to be something special (even if I do say so myself).

WDW Magazine Cover edition 1

WDW Magazine the first edition

Yes, it’s a magazine. Not just any magazine, but a WDW Magazine. It’s going to be a digital magazine available for the iPad initially and sometime in the next few months it will be available for everyone who has some kind of computer like device. (Phones, tablets and even computers.)

The first edition should be unveiled sometime in mid to late September, depending on how long it takes Apple to approve the final product.

I’ve already started a Facebook page for WDW Magazine. I’m looking for input over there for what you’d like to see in the magazine. Go over and like the new page to keep up with the progress and tell me what you’d like to see.

Destinations to Travel

Dad’s Bottom Line

Allison, I’m sure glad you’re missing me. I will be back in a couple of weeks refreshed and ready to rock and roll. Thank you for your patience.

Feb 12, 2014 resort hoping

Hi Dad,
we are going to WDW in a few months, is it ok to visit other resorts and have our quick service dining there? Also would love to check out the beach at The polynesion as well as the pool there…just wondering if we are able to do this even if we are staying at the Pop Century?

Dad’s Answer

That’s no problem. Disney encourages guests to visit other resorts and dine in them. They only get a bit finicky late at night.

Congrats and hooray! I’m so excited! I’ll be looking forward to the new magazine….I wish I could afford to go to WDW more often than I can (plus I can’t seem to stop having babies), so when I’m getting that major WDW itch, reading your blog is a bit like my “Disney hydrocortisone”. Hope you’re feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
