Christmas at Disney World – what not to miss

We are going to Disney World this Christmas and wonder what not to miss? We’re taking our 2 kids (12 boy and 6 girl), Dec 18-23. This is our first trip. We don’t want to run ourselves ragged and would like a “plan”. Our kids are going into this with no expectations since they’ve never been and don’t really know what’s available.

First off let me say that when Mrs. Mom read this she unpacked her jealous eyes and cried a bit. December 18 is the day we normally arrive for our Christmas at Disney World excursions.

About your point about having a plan. I could write a whole book (too bad Dad it’s already been written, it’s called the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, and it’s a great reference) about how to develop a plan. Yes, some of the books advocate running to and fro, but if you look at Dad’s page about crowds in the Magic Kingdom, you’ll get a good idea about how to develop a good plan for the Magic Kingdom.

The other parks are pretty easily navigated in one day. Just hit the “big” rides first.

Now on to the things that shouldn’t be missed. You won’t want to miss the big Christmas shows like Holiday Wishes and the Candlelight Processional. Those are obvious. A couple of free things that are really cool are the gingerbread house displays in all of the Deluxe Resorts. The gingerbread house in the Grand Floridian is absolutely not to be missed.

You’ll also want to check out the Christmas time story tellers in EPCOT. Some are pretty interesting. For more information about Christmas decorations, check out …

Hope this helps.
