D23 Day 1: Sequels, Avatarland, and a New Restaurant!

Wow-Day 1 of the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim had a lot of great news delivered. Here are some of the highlights.

First, there’s quite a line-up for sequels heading down the pike. Toy Story 4 will include a love story between Woody and Bo Peep and open in 2017. Finding Dory opens in 2016, and there were posters showing The Incredibles 2 and Cars 3 are “coming soon”. John Lasseter announced a new film “Gigantic”, inspired by Jack and the Beanstalk, which opens in 2018.

Johnny Depp became a surprise Disney Legend today. It was about time after all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies he has done!

The model for AVATAR (coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom) was released. It looks incredible and may put aside some fears to those who thought it might not fit at Animal Kingdom.

Rumors from last fall have come true in the form of Skipper Canteen, a restaurant based on the Jungle Cruise, which is slated to open at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World later this year! Who else is excited for this to open?

Tomorrow is the day we have all been waiting for when Walt Disney Parks and Resorts takes the stage at 3 p.m. Pacific Time. Fingers crossed that we finally find out what is happening at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Don’t worry, Dad and his team are there to find out first hand and deliver the information to you! #DadGoesWest #D23Expo Stay tuned!
