Dad’s Big 5 – Reasons to go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

Welcome to the very first Dad’s Big 5. Today we’re going to kick off with Dad’s Big 5 Reasons to go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

Yes, I know, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is expensive, so tomorrow, we’ll look at Dad’s Big 5 Reasons not to got to MVMCP. But today let’s have some fun and dream.

These are in no particular order –

Snow on Main Street

One of the coolest (no pun intended) ever is watching it snow on Main Street during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It’s one of the best reasons to go to the party. I know, it’s Florida and it has never really snowed at the Magic Kingdom, but this is the next best thing.

I just wish it would stay for a while.

The Christmas parade during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party may be the best parade at WDW. It’s close between the Boo to You Parade, but since Dad’s a big Christmas guy, I like the Christmas parade better.

Cocoa and Cookies

This is a little bitty thing, but getting FREE cocoa and cookies is just pretty neat. Most of the party nights, the temperature is really about right for cocoa. It really hits the spot when the thermometer gets below 60°. The cookies are really good too.

No Lines

Since there are limited crowds during the party and because most people are lining up for the parades, the lines for the rides are usually really short. We rode Buzz Lightyear 5 times in a row with no wait the last time we were at a party and that was a sold out party. That’s just incredible. Even the mountains have short lines.

Holiday Wishes

I love Wishes. It’s my favorite regularly scheduled fireworks show anywhere. Holiday Wishes, is the daily show on some major steroids.  I love watching Holiday Wishes during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It’s a great way to celebrate the season.

Christmas music and fireworks. What could be better?

Dad’s Bottom Line

OK, so it’s not an official Dad’s page unless there’s a Dad’s Bottom Line. So here we go.

Dad has been to the Christmas Party 4 times, I think. Even though the crowds get a little bigger every time, we still love it.

It is a little pricey, especially for a family (we’ll talk about that tomorrow), but if you can swing it, Dad  thinks it’s worth it.

Snow on Main Street, Santa in the parade, cocoa and cookies, short lines, Holiday Wishes and more. Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is a great place to create holiday memories that you will talk about for years and years.

  2. Hello,
I was hoping you could provide some of your outstanding advice on MVMCP. We are traveling to Orlando December 17th to 24th, and mainly visit Universal Studios. However, we thought of going to Disney for one day to Magic Kingdom. I know the crowds get pretty crazy this time of year. We are mainly in it for the rides, not meet or greets, and we will try to catch the later parade and fireworks. Do you think we would be better off just buying a ticket to MVMCP on the 18th or should we try to go to Magic Kingdom another day. Again, we are mainly looking to do rides so are looking for the shortest waits for our one day visit. Thanks for your top notch advice!!

Yes, go on a Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party day. The rides don’t have big lines. Most people are there for the parades and fireworks. Even on the busy parties lines are short. We were their a couple of years ago on a Halloween Party that was sold out and walked right on to most rides.

      That’s the best idea.

  3. HI,
We are going to Disney Nov 26- Dec 2. We are trying to figure out the best night for MVMCP. We plan to do it either Tuesday or Friday night. Tuesday seems like the better choice for crowds, but Friday works better with our plans and would be a magical way to end our vacation…..or would it?? Would crowds on Friday make it hard to enjoy and do the things we want there? thanks!
