Do I buy tickets now or wait and get them at the gate?

“We are travelling to Orlando from India in Sept. Would be visiting WDW in week starting 10th. If we buy tickets online, getting them delivered in India would be both expensive and time wise critical. Would it be still better to buy online and collect from the Gate by showing the confirmation email? Or it would be better to buy directly at the Gate itself?

In case of the former (i.e. buying online) would we receive email confirmation of the purchase immediately or after some processing that may take a few days. If so, after how many days will we receive email confirmation?

Can we do fastpass reservation using the confirmation email?

Can I buy ticket at the Gate in advance, i.e. say, buy today for using it tomorrow or later.

Phew… that’s quite a lot, but could not find answers to most of the above elsewhere.

Thanks in advance….”

Now is the time

Go ahead and buy them in advance.

When you purchase your Disney World Tickets from a reputable source, we recommend the Official Ticket Center or Disney you will get a confirmation emailed to you. That confirmation will have a ticket number on it. That’s a very important number.

Dad’s Official Ticket Center page

You will take that ticket number and enter it into your My Disney Experience account. (Each person will have their own number and own My Disney Experience account. Be sure to match these up.)

Once the ticket number is in My Disney Experience you’ll be able to make FastPass+ reservations.

When you arrive at Walt Disney World, if you are staying in a Disney hotel you will pick up your MagicBands at the check in desk. The front desk will be able to assign your tickets to each person’s My Disney Experience account and you’ll be all set. The tickets will be ready.

If you’re not staying at a Disney Resort, you’ll go to a ticket booth on your first day. Bring your printed confirmations. The ticket booth will set up plastic tickets for you with the ticket number assigned and will be able to link the My Disney Experience accounts to the tickets.

You can buy tickets today and activate them tomorrow, next week or up to a year from the date purchased.

Dad’s Bottom Line

The bottom line is, there is no reason to delay purchasing your tickets. Go ahead and buy them from Disney or the Official Ticket Center and you’ll be fine. Just put your ticket number into your My Disney Experience account and it will be smooth sailing.
