Ok, We are making a special birthday (me!) day trip to the Magic Kingdom next Friday and I just lucked out by getting a 8:40 am Crystal Palace ressie! NOW… how/when/yikes… do I park/get in and at what time? How early do I really need to get to the gates? Can I even park at this time? Yikes! Help!! (PS, i am so excited to eat at the Crystal Palace, finally)

Thanks DAD!!!

Dad’s A Great Start Answer

You’re a lucky lady – Dad can’t think of a better way to start off a day of birthday celebrations than a pre-park opening breakfast at the Magic Kingdom! Don’t worry about a thing – Disney does a great job of making it easy for guests with early morning dining reservations to get into the park. Once inside the gates, you can proceed to The Crystal Palace, enjoy your meal, and head out into the park for a day of birthday fun!

It will be no problem to get into the park prior to opening – just be sure to bring a printout of your Advanced Dining Reservation confirmation with you. Aim to arrive at the parking lot about an hour before your reservation time. Park your car, take the tram to the Ticket and Transportation Center, and get in line to ride the Resort Monorail (which begins running before the Express Monorail).

After you take the Monorail around the Seven Seas Lagoon, you’ll head through the security checkpoint, and look for the entrance gate that is open to guests with dining reservations. Typically the special turnstile for early guests is to the right, but follow the signage or ask any cast member. Show your reservation confirmation and proceed through the main gate, and right up Main Street USA (make sure you get a picture in front of Cinderella Castle without the crowds!).

The Crystal Palace is a great breakfast location in the Magic Kingdom. Since it’s a buffet, you can fill up as much as you like, and there’s a great variety of fruit, baked goods, breakfast meats, and specialty items like made-to-order omelets (Dad loves omelets), Mickey waffles and Pooh’s Puffed French Toast. Make sure you let the Cast Member at check in know it’s your birthday, you might get a special surprise!

The hidden benefit of a buffet is that you can take control of how long your meal takes, which means you can have a leisurely meal or speed through breakfast to get a head start on the crowds in the parks – the choice is totally up to you.

Dad’s Bottom Line

Rachel, you’ll have no problem making it to the Magic Kingdom in time for your early dining reservation! Have a great time fuelling up for your day with Pooh and his pals, and have a happy birthday!

Dec 05, 2017 EPCOT
by: Anonymous We have 9:30 reservations at Akershus. Park opens at 9am but I’ve heard it can be a very long walk to get to that area of the park. I have 2 2-year-olds in our party to cart back there as well. Will they let us in a few minutes early? What time should we plan on leave Art of Animation to arrive at EPCOT in time?

Dad Answers

30 minutes is plenty of time, but I would try to get to EPCOT by 8:30 and see if they’ll let you in. That means getting to the bus stop at around 8 or before.

Nov 04, 2017 ADR MK park entry
by: Anonymous 8:25 ADR at CP with park opening at 8:00 and welcome show at 7:55. What time will they let me in compared to regular park guests? Also, 8:00 reservation for BOG another day, same situation.

Dad Answers

You will be able to enter whenever guests are allowed into the park. Probably at around 7:30.

Oct 18, 2017 How early can you enter Magic Kingdom with an ADR?
by: Anonymous I have an 8:45 a.m. ADR at Crystal palace but now MK is opening at 8:00 on that day. Can I still enter the park before opening?

Dad Answers

No, they only let people in a few minutes before their ADR’s. If the park opens at 8 and your reservation is for 8:45, you’ll be able to get in when the park opens.

Nov 05, 2016 9:10 am reservation at BOG
by: Anonymous I have a 9:10am reservation at BOG. Will they let me in a little early to make it on time? I’m a little nervous about trying to walk through the park with a 5 year old… especially if rides are up and going.

Dad’s Answer

You probably will be able to get in at least a couple of minutes early. Just go to the line where they are letting in ADR guests and ask. Disney is also pretty good if you are a couple of minutes late to an early morning reservation.

Sep 06, 2016 8:55am Breakfast Reservation at BOG
by: Bryan Hello! If I have an 8:55am breakfast res at BOG, is there any chance I will be able to get in a bit early? I’d really like to take advantage of the short ride lines around 9am.

Dad Answers

It’s not likely. BOG is one of the busiest restaurants at WDW. The front gate people will look at your ADR time and probably not even let you into the park until a few minutes before the time on the reservation.

Jul 24, 2016 Is a 10:30 reservation too late?
by: Spiffy Can we still get in prior to park opening with a 10:30 breakfast reservation at CP🙏🏼?

Dad Answers

Spiffy, no that’s a little too much time. They typically only let people with reservations before or right at opening time in early.
