What’s a Kringla? Good question. It’s a pretzel like Norwegian pastry. It has it’s roots in, of all things, Khristmas, oops, I mean, Christmas. It’s usually served at Christmas time and is even called a Christmas cookie. The root of the word in Danish is Kringle (yes, like Kris Kringle). Whatever it is, this is a good place to grab a quick bite.

The Bakeri og Kafe opens at at 11:00 with the rest of the World Showcase and closes about an hour before the park closes. Closing time varies with the seasons (no, not winter, spring, summer or fall, but value, normal, high and holiday).
The big draw at here is the pastry case. It’s packed with great looking, and tasting, pasteries. Warning – if you grab a pastery here, you might not want another one when you get to France. (That might be a good thing.)

Sandwiches and more
Sandwiches are the specialities here. You can choose from one of the following sandwiches,
- Chicken Salad Sandwich
- Gravlox and Egg Sandwich
- Roast Beef Sandwich
- Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich (for the kids)
- or, you can build your own open-faced sandwich from a list of meats and cheeses.
There is also a Daily Chef’s Special which is an open-faced sandwich with a cup of Jarlsberg and leek soup and a dessert. There is also a garden salad available.
Sides and Desserts
There are several “side” items available to enhance your dining pleasure. These would probably be called desserts at most houses.
- Fresh Fruit Cup
- Lefse – a flatbread usually served with butter and sugar
- School Bread – A coconut covered pastery
The dessert menu is short but worth a try.

Everything on the menu is under $10.00. For Disney World prices are reasonable.

If you end up in the vicinity of Norway at lunch time (and you probably will) give the Bakeri a try.
