Lines, crowds, Flower & Garden Festival
Hi Dad! I might have found someone to help me use a few of my 1 day, 1 park passes. The only day that works for both of us is May 12th (otherwise we'll have to wait until the crowds start to get heavy). I'd like to go to Epcot, because I haven't actually gotten to tour that park since I was 5 years old and what hasn't changed, I don't really remember well. However, with the Flower & Garden Festival going on, I'm concerned about the crowds (especially on a weekend w/ concerts and guest stars).
Dad’s something good Answer
I’m glad you’ve found someone to help you use up those passes! I hear your concerns about crowds on a Saturday at Epcot, especially during the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival
. But, I don’t think you have any reason to be worried. In fact, I think you’re going to have such an amazing day there that you’ll wonder why you haven’t been since you were a kid!
Usually you’d be right about visiting a park on a Saturday during a special event, but for one reason or another May 12 seems like it’s going to be a great day to visit. Maybe it’s because it’s Mother’s Day weekend, maybe it’s because the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is coming to a close, maybe it’s just too close to the end of the school year for kids to be missing classes. Whatever the reason, crowds are going to be a breeze!
In fact, Dad’s friends at Touringplans.com
agree – the crowds on May 12 will be moderate at best. In fact, if you’re serious about seeing as much of the park as possible in one day, you might want to head over to their website now and download one of their suggested touring plans – you’d be surprised how much of the park you can see in one day with their help – Future World, World Showcase, you name it!
While you are going to encounter a few crowds here and there, they will be completely manageable, especially if you use the FASTPASS
system for the big rides like Soarin’
and Test Track
. Plus, remember that anyone who’s at the park for the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival or to see the HGTV celebrities will be busy attending speeches and seminars, making your tour of the park less crowded!
Now that we’ve eased your concern about crowds, let’s talk about why this is a great time of year to visit Epcot! First of all, the flowers are really something! The landscaping at Walt Disney World is always outstanding, but this is really the best of the best – you’re in for a treat! Plus, at the end of your long day, you can sit back, relax, and enjoy Herman’s Hermits featuring Peter Noone play in the America Gardens Theatre before catching Illuminations!
(Sing along with Dad) Something tells me I’m into something good…
(Doesn't Dad sing good?)
Dad's Bottom Line
Jessica, run, don’t walk, to Epcot on May 12 (although you’ll have to walk when you get there – Disney doesn’t approve of running in the parks for safety reasons). You’re going to have an incredible day – trust me.
