Looking for some advice for first timer 🙂
by Shanon Carter
So I am just looking for some first timers advice. I am planning a trip to Disney world for 2 weeks. It’s just me and my 16 year old daughter. My vacation days will be from April 21st-May 5th 2019.
I am driving from Buffalo, NY so figuring 2 days driving that are days at Disney will from the 23rd to the 3rd. I was going to do the 7 day ticket hopper plus as my daughter is older we can explore more in a day and she wants to do the water parks. And maybe a couple days at Universal Studios.
Since we aren’t planning on being in are rooms much I was gonna going with the Value Resorts. Is there any advice you could give a first timer like me lol. Thanks for your time 🙂"
Have a good time

Shannon, congratulations. YOU'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!
My number one piece of advice comes from the immortal words of Paul Simon...
"Have a good time"
I know it sounds silly, but a lot of people get so wrapped up in planning they forget to have a good time especially first timers. They get into either the "this cost too much" mindset or the "we have to go, go, go, because we might miss something mindset and they forget to "Stop and Smell the Roses" and to have a good time.
But that's not going to happen to you. Right?
There's way too much to talk about when it comes to Walt Disney World and advice. Shoot, for that read this whole website, (and my book
) and a bunch more. We all have great, and sometimes not so great advice.
But I will share my 10 Simple Rules for dealing with the crowds at the Parks.
They are pretty basic.
You can see the list and all the details on my 10 ways to avoid crowds page.
These, my book and the have a good time thing will give you a really good start.
Spend the next few months making a good plan, work with your daughter on the plan and you'll be fine.
Dad's Bottom Line
The bottom line, and my "sage" advice for going to Walt Disney World is, relax, make a plan, but include a lot of time to have fun. That's what it's all about.
