Magic Kingdom After Hours

OK, I really don’t know what to think about this one. My initial reaction is…

Lots of the Disney news sites are reporting that Disney is going to (or may have by now) announce a new program. Kind of like a Extra Magic Hours on steroids.

The “rumors” say that you will be able to stay 3 hours after the park closes. (Sound familiar?) There will be special Meet and Greets during the 3 hours.

And all of this for the sweet price of $149. Yes, you read that right, Disney wants to charge almost $50 per hour for the “privilege” of letting you stay 3 extra hours in the Magic Kingdom. As if $125 isn’t enough to pay for a day in the Magic Kingdom you can now pay an mere $149 and get to stay 3 more hours. Oh, boy!

No that’s not $149 per family. That’s $149 per person! Ouch!

Tickets go on sale on April 6 for April and May dates. The dates are April 14th, 21st, 28th. May 5th, 8th, 12th, and 19th.

My second reaction was Disney is playing a very elaborate April Fools joke, but I don’t think so. This is in line with a lot of Disney’s recent “upscale” offerings. (More about that in a couple of days.)

I’ve got lots of questions about this. Is this the end of Extra Magic Hours? Will there be snacks (like the Halloween and Christmas Parties)? Will there be a special fireworks show? Just how many tickets will they offer? Who on earth do they think will pay $150 for 3 hours?

I’m sure if I thought about it for a couple of minutes I could come up with 100 more.

This one is hard to believe.
