Magic Kingdom Christmas parade and fireworks

I have read that Disney shows the Christmas parade in the afternoon and has the holiday fireworks the week before Christmas. Do you know if they start this the day after the last Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party?

We will be there Dec 14-19 which only gives us 1 day after the party and I am concerned we might not see the Magic Kingdom Christmas parade & fireworks without MVMCP tickets, which we really would rather not spend that much money on.

Dad’s it’s better in the dark Answer

Christmas, Oh, boy! My favorite questions are about Christmas at Disney World.

First, about Holiday Wishes in previous years, the first showing not associated with Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is around the 21st of December. You’ll probably miss that.

However, you can still see Holiday Wishes. Yes you can. You can watch it from several places around Seven Seas Lagoon. My favorite place to watch Wishes is the beach at the Polynesian Resort. It has a great view and they even play the music. (My new favorite place is down by the volleyball court. The angle is almost right down Main Street.)

When it comes to the parade …

Yes, it will start the day after the last Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in the afternoon, so you should be able to see it on the 19th.

But …

I’ve got to say that there is something Magical about seeing the Christmas parade after dark. I think it’s better after dark. It’s just more “Christmasy” to me. The lights on the floats are special. It just seems more alive at night.

I know what your thinking …

Hey Dad are just trying to sell me Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tickets. No, I’m not. I think Disney has overpriced the party. But, it is a very special event. There is nothing better than seeing it snow on Main Street while sipping hot cocoa (free) and eating (free) cookies.

Dad’s Bottom Line

The are very special. They are best seen at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, but you will still be able to see both (provided it doesn’t rain on the 19th).
