Non-Gourmet Dining at Walt Disney World

Non-Gourmet Dining at Walt Disney World

I love the Dad site!

I am a fellow Disney Dad who will go on and on to anyone who will listen. I have taken the family to Disneyland, and have our first Disney World trip planned in January. I have 2 questions: In Disneyland, they have Walt's favorite fried chicken (also my favorite fried chicken), where can I get it at Disney World?

And also, where do we want to go to eat? We aren't gourmet, we are the hamburger crowd, where are the cool places we don't want to miss? Thanks for all the help.

Dad's Scrumptious Answer

I love talking to Disney Dad's. We need to form a club. I guess that's probably my job.

About your questions, number one - Walt's Favorite Fried Chicken it is only found in Disneyland. Sorry.

Now on to question number two - where to find good non-gourmet dining at Walt Disney World. This is one where Dad truly is an expert. Dad and family not real high on fu-fu food. (Even though we are addicted to the Food Network.) We have some places we really enjoy eating at in WDW.

The Magic Kingdom is the toughest place to find good food. We used to love Casey's Hot Dogs until they started serving wheat buns on all of their hamburgers and hot dogs. Let me tell you, hot dogs weren't meant to be served on wheat buns. Even though the buns are wheat, we still enjoy Pecos Bills, especially the fixin's bar.

In Epcot we always eat in the Land. It has a food court where you have several choices. We also eat in Teppan Edo one evening.

At Disney's Hollywood Studios we eat at Toy Story Pizza Planet. You also have to try lunch at the Sci-Fi Dine-Inn, but stay with the simple stuff.

Animal Kingdom is not a great place for dining. We ate at Yak and Yeti on our last trip. It was OK, but nothing special. We always end our Animal Kingdom day with a great dinner at 'Ohana in the Polynesian Resort.

We really enjoy the food courts at the Value and Moderate hotels for breakfast. They omelets are really good and for Disney a real good deal.
