November 2011 Crowds at Walt Disney World

Hi Dad,

I love your website!

We are planning a trip sometime between November 5 and 20th, 2011 and would like to know what the November 2011 Crowds at Walt Disney World will be like.

We are worried about how busy it could be during Jersey week (apparently it is the week of November 5th this year). We will be traveling with our four young kids (6,4,3 and 1) and were really hoping to avoid crowds on our trip in order to maintain our sanity! Do you have any advice? Do you know of any common promotions that run during this time?

Thank you so much in advance for any suggestions!

Take care,

Dad's yep, Dad knows Answer

Good to hear from you. Isn't this site great?

For most of November crowds at Disney World are very light. Yes, that includes Jersey Week. Dad's ranted about Jersey Week at Disney World earlier this year which led to a whole discussion about Jersey Week and November crowds.

The bottom line is, Jersey week is not a problem. Crowds are small and it's a wonderful time to visit Disney World.

Now on to specials. Yes, Disney usually has discounts during November except for Thanksgiving week. The last 3 years the special has been free dining. Usually the specials are announced in late August or early September.

Dad's Bottom Line

How to keep your sanity about your Disney Trip - - - It's easy. Keep reading Dad's site every day. Don't put a lot of stock in hysterical reports you see on other sites. (Some people think two people are a crowd and if they have to stand in line for 5 minutes it's a tragedy.) Dad will be glad to help you keep your sanity.

Hello, we are going to Walt Disney World Thanksgiving week and I want to know how is the weather so I can have an idea what to pack... Thanks 2011

Dad Answers

The weather at Walt Disney World can be a little tricky this time of year, but it looks like you can expect highs in the upper 70's to low 80's. Lows should be in the mid 60's at least through Thanksgiving Day. You might need a light jacket in the evenings, but it looks like shorts for most of the day.

Disney for Thanksgiving

We are planning our 1st trip to Disney over Thanksgiving break. We are looking at staying at one of the resorts that offer the 90 minute presentation for a huge discount. Not sure if this is the best way to go, but we are limited on funds. What do you think? What is the weather like during that time, and are the parks actually open Thanksgiving day?

Dad's semi-surprising Answer

Most Disney World gurus will tell you not to waste your precious time at one of those Timeshare presentations. But not Dad.

Mrs. Mom and I did one of those years ago. (The Princess was just a baby.) We spent a great weekend in beautiful Hot Springs Arkansas and it didn't cost us anything.

We've never done it in Orlando, but might be tempted in the future. It's not something I would do if I had kids, but for an individual or a couple, what's not to like. A cheap hotel and cheap park ticket. Sign me up.

Just make sure when you get home to come back and tell us about your experience.

Wanting to save as much as possible.

1st disney visit

this will be our family's first visit to Disney World we are planning our trip after thanksgiving into December. Are there any specials we should be aware of this time of year? Typically what should we expect?

Dad's Answer

There should be some kind of special the week after Thanksgiving. It will probably be announced sometime in August. As to what it will be, my prediction is a percentage off of your room price. (10% for the Value Resorts and 20% for the other resorts, but that's just a guess).

The first week of December will be exempted from any discounts because of the Pop Warner Football and Cheerleader Championships.

Stay tuned!

wait for discounts?

Hi Dad's!

We too are visiting WDW for the first time Nov 26-Dec 1 2011. We have settled on the Wilderness Lodge and Dining package but have not booked yet. Should we just save the money and wait until the promotions are announced in Aug / Sept to book?

Also, is the week after thanksgiving typically really busy?

We have visited DL the last 3 years and it's typically not very busy. Just wondered if the same for WDW.

I'd go ahead and book now, especially if you want the cheapest rooms at the Wilderness Lodge. They tend to sell out even when it's slow. When the discounts come out for the winter, you can get your reservation changed over to the new price.

Crowds will be light the week after Thanksgiving. It's the perfect week to visit. Thanksgiving crowds are gone and the Football and Cheerleaders don't show up until the next week.

Will also be planning a trip down sometime from nov.6th on. also concerned about crowds and also wondering when the Mickys xmas is. I cannot seem to locate dates as of yet.

Dad Answers

Dates won't be announced until sometime in the summer (it's usually in August). Typically Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party starts the first full week of November.
