Have you heard of any problems renting Disney Vacation Club points from David’s Vacation Club Rentals? I see they advertise on your site. I am scared to reserve thru someone who is located in Canada. We have a large party and do not want to show up at the resort and find out we have been scammed.
Shannon,
Renting Disney Vacation Club points is one of the most nerve wracking things I have ever done. Earlier this year I rented points when I stayed at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge Villas I’ve always wanted to give it a try.
There are a couple of ways to rent points. The first is to find a DVC owner and rent directly from them (which is what I did). The second is to use a broker like David’s Vacation Club Rentals or one of the other sites that rent points.
The nerve wracking thing about renting points is exactly what you said. It’s always possible that you arrive at your resort and don’t have a reservation. That’s why I’ve never rented points before.
As to your specific question about David and his company. It’s my opinion that David is as reliable as you will find. In fact I’m going to start advertising David’s site directly (the ads you’ve seen before come from a ad company).
I have talked to David directly and believe he’s a good businessman offering a good service. Is it possible that you will end up at Disney without a reservation? Yes, but in my opinion, the chances of getting ripped off are less by using David than they are by renting directly from an unknown person.
(This is the first direct ad I’ve placed for David’s site.)
Dad’s Bottom Line
Shannon, renting DVC points is a good way to save a lot of money on a Disney Hotel reservation. I’ve only heard of a few people getting ripped off through the years. I doesn’t happen often, but it does happen. I do think that by using David’s Vacation Club Rentals, you lessen your chances of getting ripped off.
