Should I change my trip because of Galaxy’s Edge?

Thanks for your help! We have a trip booked at the Polynesian, with the free dining, September 8-13th. We have been so excited, but now with Galaxy’s Edge opening right before we come, we are worried about crowds. 🙁

We specifically picked September because we wanted low crowds.

We are throwing around the idea of rescheduling our trip and trying to go before GE opens…but, we don’t want to have similar or worse crowd levels to what we may have in September where we have the Polynesian and free dining booked already.

Are all the parks going to be crazy? What would you do? 🙂 Thank you!

You’re Going to Disney World!

Dave and Brittany,

Now line up and wait, and wait, and wait…

No, I’m kidding it’s not going to be that bad.

Ghost Town to ???

The truth about September is we really don’t know exactly what’s going to happen. Will it be busier than normal, yes. But normal for that time in September is ghost town.

What we don’t know yet (I don’t care what anyone says) is will it go from ghost town to Christmas crazy crowds, or ghost town to summer moderate crowds, or even ghost town to after spring break nice and gentle crowds?

My guess is it will be somewhere between nice and gentle and moderate.

It’s September

Even though Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will have just opened, I don’t think the crowds will be totally crazy. Yes, I made up a crowd calendar with heavy crowds all month but that was tongue in cheek. It won’t be that busy.

Dad’s September Disney World Crowds page

September is the slowest month in the year. Yes, it will be busier, but even Darth Vader can’t revoke the school calendar.

Lose Free Dining

It is going to cost you a lot of money to reschedule. First you will lose your Free Dining. It’s not being offered right now. Also, ticket prices have gone up since you booked. Oh, and I think this last weekend hotel prices went up too.

My guess is it will cost you at least $1,000 to change dates. That’s a lot of money to lose.

Destinations to Travel

Dad’s Bottom Line

Yes, I know it’s going to be busier than we expected in September, but I don’t think it’s going to be crazy busy except at Galaxy’s Edge. I think I would stick with my original plan.

Good advice from Dad about not changing your plans. We’re arriving on 30 Aug 19, and also weren’t happy about the surprise opening considering we have zero interest in Galaxy’s Edge. But we’re hoping for the best and have no plans to change our plans. The Free Dining and the fact that the time is convenient for us means the trip is still on. PS–There are no Fast Passes for Galaxy’s Edge right now, everyone gets to be elbow to elbow if they want to see it right off the bat! :o)

Definitely go,but check out fast pass for all in the family,I don’t .know about fast pass for Galexy Edge but for sure Avitar.Do lots of homework it will be worth it.The line ups with out fast pass for certain rides will be long and don’t forget standing in summer heat and humidity in long lines in Orlando unbearable.
