We’re back this week with our friend Shannon Bonadurer from Destinations to Travel LLC for Travel Agent Thursday! This week, we learn some of the benefits you can take advantage of while visiting WDW at one of the most popular times of the year – spring break! Take it away, Shannon!
Consider taking Flat Dad with you on Spring Break!
Congratulations!! You‘re going to Walt Disney World for Spring Break!
Now, what can you expect when you get there and how do you survive the crowds and the heat?
Spring break at Walt Disney World can be crowded. EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival
is happening, and many schools across the US have the same week off for Spring Break
. So how do you survive Spring Break at WDW? The answer to that is simple: careful planning and strategy.
Disney has some very unique benefits for guests wanting to beat the crowds and handle the heat of the day – if you take advantage of these benefits you can plan the perfect Spring Break vacation for you and your family.
Forget breakfast – run (well, walk responsibly) for the rides!
Benefit Number 1: Early Magic Hours!
One of the perks of staying on property at WDW is the benefit of Early Magic Hours
! Plan to arrive at the parks 20 – 30 min before the park’s early entry begins. Head immediately to the attraction you do not have a FastPass+
reservation for and take advantage of the opportunity of being one of the first guests of the day.
Many times you will have the opportunity to ride this attraction a few times by taking advantage of being one of the first guests there in the morning. Continue to the rest of your must-do attractions throughout the early magic hour. You will accomplish way more in the first 2 hours of the park opening than you will the rest of the day, and that’s where FastPass+ comes into play. Use those reservations to hit the attractions you couldn’t do in the morning – or those attractions you may want to repeat.

Benefit Number 2: Extra Magic Hours!
Another perk of staying on property! Many guests tire quickly after a long day at the parks. Heat, crowds, tired children and a big dinner can cause many guests to return to their resort early to settle in for the evening. This is how you can capitalize on lower crowds in the evening. Take advantage of the Extra Magic Hours
at the theme parks, when hotel guests are allowed to stay for up to 3 hours after the parks close to the general public.
For example, the Magic Kingdom can stay open until 3am – how many families are going to stay in the parks with their young children until that hour? Not very many, and it will make you feel like you have the park all to yourself. Take advantage of this and enjoy the rather empty park (not to mention cooler temperatures without the heat of the sun shining down on you)!
Benefit Number 3: The Heat of the Day
How do you survive the hot Florida weather? Water Parks or Resort Pools! The worst heat of the day tends to hit between 1-4pm. After lunch, head to the water park or your resort pool to cool off and relax before dinner. This will help tremendously. Keep this in mind when your choosing your FastPass+ reservations for the day. Look for shade. There are plenty of places to cool off in the parks, too – under a tree, in a store or at an attraction. Remember to stay hydrated and visit the first aid station if you feel faint or dizzy.

Planning ahead for your Spring Break vacation is key when visiting Walt Disney World. By using the above benefits, along with Disney’s My Disney Experience App to change FastPass+ reservations or check on wait times and you should be able to plan the perfect Walt Disney World Vacation.
Have a Magical Time!
