Hey Dad! How are you? I just discovered something awesome. Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic. Wow! It looks awesome!!! Do I have to be a guest at Swan and Dolphin to participate? How much does it cost? What are the hours of the event? Anything else I should know?
Dad’s copycat Answer
Hi Russell, haven’t heard from you in a while. Welcome back.
I don’t know much about the , but then not very many people do. It started last year. It’s a weekend of eating and drinking much like the International Food and Wine Festival only it showcases the chefs from the Swan and Dolphin restaurants. (I would say its a cheap knockoff, but it’s not so cheap.)
The food is set up on the walkway around Crescent Lake between the two hotels. You pay one set price for the whole event or purchase tickets for individual items (good for kids because they can’t take advantage of the wine portion).
There are also specially ticketed demonstrations on wine blending, modern mixology, beers, sake and more. The special events cost $39.50 each.
The price for 2011 is $74 for an event ticket and it is open to anyone.
So, when is it? This is the part where you just have to say “bummer”. It was October 7 and 8. (I guess you’ll just have to wait until next year.) This year the event was scheduled from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
You can get more information from the page or some menu information from the Disney Food Blog (with some really yummy looking pictures).
Dad’s Bottom Line
Russell, thanks for the great question. If you are a food connoisseur this might be a great weekend to visit Walt Disney World. With both the big show over in EPCOT and the happening, you can eat and drink to your hearts content. (Please drink responsibly.)
