It’s that time of year. Mrs. Mom is up early this morning to head to the grocery store to beat the big turkey day rush. I got to see Christmas at Disney World last week. Christmas music is playing on the radio and one of the best 3 days of the year for watching football is just hours away.
Yes, it’s Thanksgiving week. One of my favorite weeks of the year.
Growing up I liked Thanksgiving better than Christmas. Thanksgiving was when the whole family would get together, romp and play. Grandmothers cinnamon rolls would start each morning. Food, food and more food would be consumed. Touch football, dominos, cards, and general fun would break out all around.
Thanksgiving was the family holiday. Christmas was celebrated, but it was kind of anticlimactic, especially for me, because I always got Christmas and birthday presents combined. Yes, I’m whining.
Now that I’m older, things have changed and I like Christmas better, but I’m still a really big fan of Thanksgiving. I think it’s really important to stop and say, Thank You, to think about all the good things that have happened through the year and give thanks for them.
What I’m Thankful For
So, even if it’s a little boring, I wanted to take a few minutes to get into the spirit and talk about what I’m thankful for.
I’m thankful to live in a time when it’s possible to interact with people from all over the world instantaneously. Just this morning I’ve talked to someone in the United Kingdom, face to face. I talk to my team who’s in Canada, Florida, Pennsylvania and just down the street all the time. It’s an amazing thing and has allowed me to do things I couldn’t even imagine just a few years ago.
I’m thankful for my partners. They are great people and organizations. Shannon at Destinations to Travel, Patrick at The Official Ticket Center, Kathleen at Get Down to Disness. They are a great help. Thanks all.
I’m thankful for my Dream Team. Wow. What would I do without Stephanie, Tatjana, Stefanie, and Kim? They help me every day to keep the trains running. You are are really the best.
A special thanks to these two. The Yoda’s are to remind them that their boss is wise.
I’m always thankful for Mrs. Mom and all the support she offers and how willing she is to take things off my plate and take such great care of me. I am blessed with a great wife and family.
But most of all I’m thankful for YOU. For your support. For the questions. For the interactions on Social Media. For the support of our partners. For the time you invest in Dad’s Guide. And for coming back year after year. Without YOU I’d probably be doing some boring job like teaching Air Traffic Controllers how not to run airplanes together.
I have been blessed with the greatest job in the world. I’m am humbled and honored that you would spend time listening to some old guy from Oklahoma about Walt Disney World.
Thank you for a GREAT 2018. I can’t wait to see what happens in 2019!
