Your bride to be is one lucky lady! There is nothing like spending your honeymoon (or part of it) at Walt Disney World – it’s the most magical place on earth. There are lots of romantic things to do from dining to relaxing to special experiences. While Disney doesn’t currently offer a “honeymoon package” there’s no reason that you can’t build your own perfect honeymoon (with Dad’s help, of course).
Even though most people think “family vacation” when they envision the Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World is magical for couples, and especially honeymooners. Just ask the Princess – she and her Prince Charming honeymooned at Walt Disney World not so long ago. Oh yeah, Mrs. Mom would probably bop me if she read this and I didn't mention we also honeymooned there way back when there was just one park. It was a magical time.
In terms of tickets and packages, there is nothing specific to couple celebrating their honeymoon. There are lots of optional add ons like booking fancy meals or having special gifts delivered to your room, but you’ll book your tickets (and hotel if you’re planning to stay on property) as a regular Magic Your Way package, just like everyone else.
You’ll need to decide how many days you plan to be at Walt Disney World, how many parks you’d like to go to, where you want to eat, and how much you’re willing to spend. That information will determine what type of tickets you’ll need, which hotel to book if you plan to stay overnight, and which restaurants to secure an Advance Dining Reservation for.
Here are Dad’s favorite romantic ideas for honeymooners at Walt Disney World:
Dinner at Victoria and Albert’s This adults-only AAA Five-Diamond dining experience at the Grand Floridian is perfect for a romantic special occasion. The restaurant has a dress code and a high price tag, but if fine dining is your cup of tea, dinner here won’t disappoint.
Watching Wishes from the Beach Dad loves the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks show, Wishes. It’s truly magical, and you don’t even have to be in the Magic Kingdom to watch it. In fact, the most romantic spot to watch the show is from the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. You can grab a lounge chair on the beach, and lay back, relax, and watch the show (they even pipe in the music to speakers on the beach).
Splurge on a Room at the Polynesian If you’re planning to stay at a Walt Disney World hotel and money is no object, Disney’s Polynesian Resort is the most romantic hotel on property – you’ll feel like you’ve woken up in a tropical paradise
Take a Romantic Ride at the Port Orleans Resort If old fashioned romance is your thing, consider heading over to the Port Orleans Resort where you can take a horse and carriage ride alongside the Sassagoula River. It’ll cost you $45 for a 25 minute ride, but it’s a classy addition to any honeymoon.
Of course there are loads of other great romantic gestures to be made at Walt Disney World – at any price point! You can get some of those Bride and Groom ears, stop by guest relations and get a “just married” celebration button, or head over to Epcot and have a real champagne toast under the Eiffle Tower.
You can always let the pros help plan you the most Perfect honeymoon ever at the most magical place on Earth. Dad’s friends at Destinations to Travel can help you with everything from tickets to hotels to reservations for restaurants, spas, and experiences.
