Dad’s make like a Boy Scout Answer
Walt Disney World in December is the Perfect time of year. Sleigh bells are ringing, carolers are singing, and each park is brimming with seasonal trimmings. You can take that to the bank. Even the Weather is always Perfect …
or maybe not.
The weather at Walt Disney World in December isn’t easy to pin down. In fact, sometimes Dad thinks there is no such thing as “typical December weather” at Walt Disney World in late December or anytime.
You see, Dad has been there in December when it’s been 80 degrees, when it’s been 30 degrees, when the sun’s been shining and when it’s been sopping wet. Maybe you’ll be able to swim in the resort pool or maybe you’ll end up wearing mitts and a winter coat.
Peeking ahead this December’s extended forecast is calling for an average temperature of 62 degrees in Orlando and 1.5″ of precipitation throughout December. The forecast states that the month will be warm and sunny and cool with showers. If that’s not typical December weather in Walt Disney World, Dad doesn’t know what is.
Like the weather, the crowds are all over the map in December. While there are a few slower days early in the month, the middle of the month is heavy and the last two weeks are anywhere from wall-to-wall to out-of-control to worse.
Whatever you do, if temperature (or the ability to hear yourself think) is a concern, avoid the parks on Christmas Day – no matter the temperature, the enormous crowds will make it feel hotter than the 4th of July! Dad learned this the hard way one year!
Looking on the bright side, there are lots of things to keep your mind off the weather in December at Walt Disney World. It’s Dad’s favorite time of the year! The parks are brimming with extra shows, festive decorations, and more!
One thing’s for sure in December at Walt Disney World – at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, it will snow on Main Street USA! Yes, I said snow.
Dad’s Bottom Line
Dad’s best advice to combat the ever-changing typical December weather at Walt Disney World is to make like a Boy Scout and be prepared. Check the 10-day forecast before your trip and pack accordingly. Dress in light layers so you can accommodate the hottest and chilliest parts of the day – whatever the weather, mornings and evening tend to be a little nippy.
