While Disney has a vast and mostly efficient transportation system, often there are other methods to get from Point A to Point B; in this case Point A is Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Point B is the EPCOT area hotels that are Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Boardwalk Villas & Boardwalk Inn and Yacht and Beach Club Resort.
When you leave Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you have a choice of transportation to get over to the Boardwalk area. There’s a boat launch and there’s your own two feet. Both methods take about 25-30 minutes but you have more control over your speed if you take the walking path, especially if you see that the boat has not yet arrived to load the passengers and will have multiple stops.
When leaving the Studios, head straight out towards the buses to the left, if you bear left after you cross the bridge, you will see the path that parallels the waterway. It’s paved and wide enough for walkers and runners in both directions. In fact, in the morning, you will find far more runners than walkers taking advantage of the flat and scenic terrain.
I don’t know that I would recommend doing this if the weather is looking threatening or it’s a particular humid/sunny day. There really is no shelter along the way from rain or sun, although there always seems to be a pleasant breeze. The distance is just about a mile from end to end.
I have to say, I’ve done this walk at different times of day. It is especially peaceful in the morning before the sun is hot and high in the sky. You will more than likely see bunnies and ducks heading out for their morning as well! I’ve also left the Studios in the early afternoon via the walkway to Boardwalk Villas; at the very end, you will have the choice of going left over the bridge to Swan and Dolphin or right on to the Boardwalk. I’ve even seen people walking at night because it is very well lit; you can even hear Fantasmic! and see some fireworks from there!
Next time you leave the hustle bustle of Disney’s Hollywood Studios to go back to your EPCOT Area Resort Hotel, take the pathway and enjoy the serenity of your own pace. Be sure to wave to the passengers on the boat because you will probably beat them back!
Now is a great time to start planning your next trip to WDW. Start now and beat the rush. Give our partners over at Destinations to Travel a shout and before you know it you’ll be strolling down the Boardwalk yourself.
