Hi! I have checked out your crowd calendar, but am curious about your thoughts! I will be visiting Disney for 5 days (May 16th-May 20th of 2020) staying at the Disney All-Star Resort. We are doing 4 days at Disney Parks at 1 day at Universal. What do you anticipate the crowds will be like during this Saturday-Wednesday visit the weekend BEFORE Memorial Day? It is just right before Memorial Day Weekend (MDW), but I am wondering if the holiday weekend crowds will impact that week, or if we will get lucky and it won’t get busy until around that Friday of MDW, as we leave on Wednesday. Let me know your thoughts! Thanks for your help!
Memorial Day is NOT one of the major holidays when it comes to Disney World Crowds. Most schools aren’t out yet and it’s too close to the end of school to take a long vacation. Memorial Day weekend is fairly busy, but it’s pretty much a local crowd.
Of course, if Disney opens something new like they did two years ago when they opened Toy Story Land, that could bring bigger crowds, but that will only affect Memorial Day Weekend.
The Weekend Before Memorial Day
I like the time right before before Memorial Day. I don’t think it will be crazy, crowds wise. Weekends can be busy if the weather is nice as locals will fill the parks, but Monday through Wednesday should be moderate, but not bad.
In late May the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival will be winding up. It ends Memorial Day Weekend. EPCOT will be all dolled up. There will be a Garden Rocks concert each night. It starts with Herman’s Hermits, which I’d love to see (but I’m old). Mike DelGuidice & Big Shot come next followed by the infamous TBD.
Typically, the weather is not scorching yet in late May. It can get hot. It can rain. It’s Florida. But it can be really, really nice too. Hopefully you’ll get some nice late Spring weather and have a ball.
Dad’s Bottom Line
Perri, the bottom line is you’ve picked one of the better times as Summer starts to visit WDW. The days before Memorial Day are a nice time to visit. I was there that week for the opening of Toy Story Land in 2018 and it was pretty nice. A little hot, (it’s hot all the time if Florida) but nice crowd wise. I think you’ll have a great time.
