"Hi Dad,

As Thanksgiving falls late in 2019, when would be the best time in October/November/December to visit WDW for a 3 week vacation? We want to avoid huge crowds!

Thank you"

Halloween

If you arrive in late October you can see the Halloween decorations in the Magic Kingdom

Emma, I'm usually not real specific about this but for you I think I need to be because I think there is a perfect time for you to go. The perfect time for you to arrive is somewhere around October 28, that last few days in October. That way you'll get to see the Halloween decorations at the Magic Kingdom and you'll get to watch the transition, if you're there for three weeks, you will be there through Halloween into Christmas. So you'll get to watch that transition from Halloween into Christmas, and before you leave you'll get to see almost everything for Christmas.

And you can even see the transition to Christmas and the Festival of the Holidays in Epcot

Now, of course you won't get to see the Candlelight Processional because that doesn't start until later in the month, but even the hotels, some of the hotel decorations may be up before you leave. But all the parks will be decorated for Christmas, most of the Christmas events will start, the first Very Merry Christmas Party will happen while you're there. So you could actually go to Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and see both of them during that time, I think that is the perfect time.

Dad's Bottom Line

The bottom line is arrive around October 28, you'll miss the huge crowds and you will have a really, really, really good trip and get to see the best that Walt Disney World does.
