Hello Dad. Thank you for all the information you provide. It is always appreciated!
I can’t decide when to take a Walt Disney World vacation. I have narrowed it down to two different times of the year. Hoping you can help with advice on which one you think would be best for my family’s first trip. I am thinking anytime during the summer from May 18, 2012 to August 5, 2012 (kids summer break from school) or March 30,2012 – April 8,2012 (week before Easter. Heard it is really crowded and the prices are the highest week before Easter but that it is not so hot.
Our Disney World vacation will be for ten days. We did decide to try at least 2 days per park plus resort swimming and perhaps dining out of the parks at night. Not really concerned with the cost of our resort, just worried about standing in really long lines while in the parks. Wanting to get the most out of our trip.
Thanks for the kind words. Let’s take a look at your dates. First I would avoid the late March/Early April time frame. It’s still a zoo from the Spring Break crowds. While its not the most expensive week (that’s Christmas week) you won’t find any discounts during that time frame.
The only thing you will have to take in to account is Gay Days is May 29 to June 2. Also, the International Flower and Garden festival will be going on until May 18 and Star Wars Weekends will start in mid-May.
I would suggest you go to Touringplans.com and get a subscription to help you pick the best dates and plan your trip. They will tell you projected crowd levels at each park for each day. When the hours at the parks are posted, you’ll be able to see them along with recommendations for the best park to visit every day.
Paula, the middle of May and the first part of June is a great time to visit. However, there’s not really a bad time to visit Disney World. In fact Dad’s done a whole page on when to take a Walt Disney World vacation. The bottom line is take a Disney World vacation anytime you can.
*Dad’s 2012 crowd calendars will be up around the end of summer.
